ABA Section of Dispute Resolution Moves 2020 Spring Conference Online

The American Bar Association Section on Dispute Resolution has rescheduled its 22nd Annual Spring Conference which had been calendared for last week (April 22-25, 2020). The event will now be held online on May 18-22. Organizers have trimmed the number of presentations and costs. It is not clear yet whether any sessions will involve Ombuds.

Here's an overview:
This Virtual Conference has been developed from content created for the Dispute Resolution 22nd Annual Spring Conference (DR2003).
This 5-day event will include many of the excellent sessions that were scheduled for New Orleans, and more. The Virtual Conference platform will allow attendees to participate in educational programs and social networking activities from their computers, telephones, and/or mobile devices. Each day will include at least three live webinars, plus you will have access to hours of pre-recorded programs. There will also be a broad array of engaging, informal social and networking opportunities, including virtual coffee chats and happy hours.
We are offering 16.25 total live or on-demand CLE credit hours – that’s more than in New Orleans! Plus if you can’t attend live, registrants can access all recorded content for up to one year. Join us to connect with colleagues, resources, CLE, and the entire community of dispute resolution from the convenience of your home and at a fraction of the normal cost.
Register here for the entire conference. To register for only one webinar in the conference, search for its registration page at http://americanbar.org/cle-marketplace.
Dispute Resolution Member Rate: $100
ABA Member Rate: $200
Non-Member Rate: $300
Special Discounted Rate (applies to government employees, young lawyers, non-profit employees, academics, solo practitioners, members of collaborating orgs): $150
Presenter Rate: $75
(ABA Events.)

Updated 4/28/20: Liz Hill says, "the Ombuds session is 'Adding Value by Addressing Matters of Impact' (program materials only). There are also several sessions on mediation and you won’t want to miss 'Side Gigs for Presence and Profitability....'" In addition, this is a good time for Ombuds to join the ABA DR Section. For $140, Ombuds may join and then pay the $100 member conference registration ($140+$100=$240). This is a $60 savings compared to the $300 non-member conference registration. (Liz Hill Twitter.)

  1. There is an ombuds session; however, it is a materials session only because several of the panelists were unavailable for a webinar. I expect we will provide an ABA DR Section webinar during the 2020-2021 bar year.

There is also a discounted Ombuds rate to join the ABA and DR Section- $140 for both. Contact Jon Lee at Jon.lee@ucsf.edu for an enrollment form.
