National Capital Commission Announces New Ombuds Team

Brent Epperson, Julie Boncompain, and Heather McGhee Peggs, have been appointed the Ombuds for Commission de la capitale nationale, the Canadian Crown corporation that administers the federally properties in the National Capital Region. Their services will be provided under contract with their consulting company, JustEquitable Inc.

All three bring significant experience to the job. Epperson is an Assistant Professor of Conflict Studies at Saint Paul University in Ottawa and an Ombuds for other organizations in North America and Europe. He also sits on the Board of ENOHE. Boncompain and Peggs provide conflict management services and hold part-time Ombuds roles with a number of organizations across Canada. Boncompain is President of the Association des ombudsman en enseignement supérieur du Québec (AOESQ) and the Chair of ACCUO's International Committee. Peggs is on the Board of FCO. (NCCC Ombuds.)

Organizational Ombuds

Organizational Ombuds serve as a confidential, independent, neutral and informal dispute resolution resource for a specific entity. They are accessible to a defined population and can advocate for fairness. These unique characteristics distinguish Organizational Ombuds from Classical Ombuds, mediators, arbitrators, and other alternative dispute resolution professionals. The term "Ombuds" is shorthand for "Ombudsman," "Ombudsperson" and "Ombuds Officer," which also are used widely.
