The Fox Graduate School’s program is part of a broader expansion of Ombuds services at Penn State. As reported here in April, the university is establishing a new University Ombuds Office and is still seeking its first Director. The full-time position will lead a university-wide function serving faculty, staff and postdoctoral scholars and is intended to coordinate a hub-and-spoke model involving unit Ombuds across Penn State’s multi-campus system. Pennsylvania State University Expands Grad Student Ombuds Program
The Fox Graduate School at Penn State has expanded its Graduate Student Ombudsperson Program from two faculty members to eight. Associate Dean for Graduate Academic Affairs, Douglas Orzolek, explained that the expansion, “reflects both the need for the Ombudsperson Program and our commitment to providing a trusted, confidential avenue for guidance and support.” The new faculty Ombuds are: Patrick Lee Plaisance, Professor in Ethics; Cara Exten, Associate Professor of Nursing; Kelly Gallagher, Assistant Research Professor of Nursing; Andy High, Professor of Communication Arts & Sciences; Kevin Kinser, Professor and Senior Scientist; Anna Peterson, Associate Professor of Communication Arts & Sciences and Director of Graduate Studies; Dhananjay Singh, Teaching Professor of Information Sciences & Technology; and Pamela Wilcox, Professor of Sociology & Demography.
