University of Vermont College of Medicine Appoints First Ombuds

The seventh oldest American medical school is the latest to create an Ombuds Office. Sally Bliss reports to the College's Dean and will serve as the Ombudsperson for students, residents and fellows. She is also expected to work closely with the College's Learning Environment and Professionalism Committee.

A nurse and bioethicist, Bliss has been working at the College's teaching hospital, Fletcher Allen Health Care, since 2007.  She graduated from Syracuse University and earned a MS in Bioethics  from the Union Graduate College/Mt. Sinai School of Medicine.  (UVM Medicine News.)

Barbara Saylor Rodgers continues to serve as the Faculty Ombuds for the University of Vermont's main campus.
