University of Maryland Selects Faculty Ombuds

Psychology Professor Karen M. O'Brien will become the next Faculty Ombuds for flagship public university in College Park, Maryland. She follows Ellin K. Scholnick, who held the half-time position for over a decade.

O'Brien has been a member of the faculty at Maryland for more than 25 years and has held a variety of administrative position, including, associate chair for undergraduate studies and co-director for the counseling psychology doctoral program. University President Darryll Pines said, "Dr. O'Brien's expertise as a licensed psychologist and her educational background in counseling psychology will be invaluable to this role. I am confident that she will serve as a trusted advisor and mediator to our faculty and administrators." (UMD Today.)
