Philosophy of Science Association Unveils Ombuds Program

The international academic organization focused on the philosophy of science has announced the creation of an Ombuds Office for its members. Joyce C. Havstad is PSA's Ombuds and Anya Plutynski is the Deputy Ombuds. They were in place for PSA's annual conference last week in Pittsburgh. According to a published Charter, the PSA Ombuds is structured and operates pursuant to IOA standards. (PSA Ombuds.) 

Both Ombuds are new to the ADR field. For the past seven year, Havstad has been an Assistant Professor of Philosophy at Oakland University. She regularly writes about comics and video games. She graduated from UC San Diego and earned a MA from San Diego State University and PhD from UC San Diego. (Personal Website.) Plutynski has been a Professor of Philosophy at Washington University in St. Louis since 2013. Her recent research and writing has focused on oncology. She graduated from the University of Chicago and earned her MA and PhD at the University of Pennsylvania. (WUSTL Bio.)
