Col Raimond has been appointed the first Staff Ombuds at the private research university in Upstate New York. In this new role, Raimond will serve staff affiliated with Arts, Sciences, and Engineering, Rochester's core academic units. John Barker, the Faculty Ombuds, said that role has helped him realize the importance of an equivalent position for staff. “I am excited that we were able to make this happen and add additional support for staff, and am happy to team with Col,” Barker said.
For the past two years, Raimond served as the campus's first LGBTQ coordinator. Prior to that, they were a practicing trademark attorney and, in their pro bono practice, assisted transgender and gender expansive clients obtain name changes. Raimond graduated from the College at Brockport and earned their JD at the University at Buffalo Law School. (Rochester News.)
