Job Posting: Idaho State University

ISU has reopened its search for a University Ombuds after not filling the position following last year's search. The full-time, in-person position, based in Pocatello and reporting to the President, will provide services to faculty and staff. It appears that the position will collaborate with the university's existing Faculty/Staff Ombuds.

Applicants must have a relevant Master's degree and professional experience. Professional certification in conflict resolution or mediation, prior Ombuds experience, and experience in higher education are preferred. The position pays $70,000 to $75,000 per year and is not eligible for remote work. The position will remain open until filled, with priority consideration given to applications received by October 8, 2026. (ISU Posting.)

  1. It sounds like this person will replace the current ombudsman?

    1. Idaho State does not have a University Ombuds. It is not clear whether this hire will replace or supplement the existing Faculty/Staff Ombuds program.
