University of British Columbia Hires Ombuds

Michelle Quigg has been named the new Ombuds Officer for the large public university in Vancouver. She fills a position being vacated by the retirement of Joy Coben and reports to UBC's Ombudsperson for Students, Shirley Nakata


Most recently, Quigg worked as an immigration lawyer private practice and did pro bono work helping stateless people in Canada obtain citizenship. She also worked as a staff lawyer and program coordinator for the Access Pro Bono Society of BC and as an International Student Advisor at Vancouver Island University. Quigg completed college and law school at UBC.  (UBC Ombuds; UBC Law Interview.)
