Meet the Assistant Ombuds at the University of Ottawa

In October 2023, Chanelle Bouassali was appointed the Assistant Ombuds at the bilingual public university in Ontario for an initial, two-year term. Reporting to Martine Conway, Bouassali provides services to 50,000 students, faculty, and staff.

Bouassali previously worked as a legal assistant and mortgage specialist. She graduated from the University of Ottawa and earned a certificate in family mediation at York University. (LinkedIn.)

Organizational Ombuds serve as a confidential, independent, neutral and informal dispute resolution resource for a specific entity. They are accessible to a defined population and can advocate for fairness. These unique characteristics distinguish Organizational Ombuds from Classical Ombuds, mediators, arbitrators, and other alternative dispute resolution professionals.
