At its annual conference earlier this week, the International Ombudsman Association announced the recipients of its 2017 Distinguished Emeritus award: James Lee and Randy Williams. IOA has traditionally bestowed the award to retired Ombuds in recognition of their outstanding and dedicated service to the organization and profession.
James Lee was recognized for his as the first full-time United Nations Ombudsman, founder of the UNARIO (UN and Related International Organizations) Ombuds group, 101/Foundations instructor, Journal of IOA reviewer and mentor.
Randy Williams was honored for her quarter decade as SVP and Corporate Ombudsman for American Express, IOA Board member, volunteer work for IOA and ABA, and consulting work that lead to the creation of many other Ombuds offices.
