Call for Reviewers: IOA 2025 Annual Conference

The International Ombuds Association's Conference Committee seeks volunteers to review presentation proposals for the upcoming 20th Annual Conference on April 7-9, 2025, in Miami, Florida. IOA is a volunteer driven association and this offers a chance for a discrete and focused opportunity to make a meaningful impact to benefits other members.

The ask:

Soon after the deadline for proposal submission (planned for 23 October 2024), you will receive a link to the IOA proposal review system.
You will be asked to review approximately 15 proposals (each no more than 2 pages) for potential presentation at #IOA2025. (The exact number depends on how many proposals are received and the number of reviewers.)
You will also be provided detailed review criteria to complete the evaluation and enter your score into the review system.
Please also provide 1-2 sentences to justify your score. (That may be useful in the evaluation process.)
Reviewers will have approximately 1 week to evaluate the proposals.

Prerequisites:

Please consider volunteering to be a proposal reviewer only if you (1) are an ombuds and (2) have attended a prior IOA Annual Conference.

Organizational Ombuds

Organizational Ombuds serve as a confidential, independent, neutral and informal dispute resolution resource for a specific entity. They are accessible to a defined population and can advocate for fairness. These unique characteristics distinguish Organizational Ombuds from Classical Ombuds, mediators, arbitrators, and other alternative dispute resolution professionals. The term "Ombuds" is shorthand for "Ombudsman," "Ombudsperson" and "Ombuds Officer," which also are used widely.
