  1. These types of things do not help. If people hope for even the remote possibility of advocating the expansion of the ombudsman role in government, industry, and academia, then poking the one person who could make or break our shared goal of such expansion with memes, otherwise known as political propaganda, is inappropriate, ineffective, and counterproductive.

  2. Four. Oh by all means let's not poke fun at "the one person who could make or break our shared goal" (!) lest we fail to expand our role in government, industry, and academia.

  3. Speaking as a federal ombudsman, I agree that this is not helpful. As we go about the very serious business of educating new leadership on the importance of the standards of practice (especially neutrality) and the value provided by an Ombuds function, it is not helpful to take partisan shots across the bow.

Most federal ombuds function at the pleasure of political leadership. That is, they are not statutorily designated and can be dissolved. So please - can we show a little common sense here with the humor? I've always appreciated the straightforward service that this blog has provided. Let's lose the editorial humor.
